A Flagler County School District employee has tested positive for the coronavirus, officials said in a news release Wednesday afternoon.

District officials said they were notified Wednesday by the Florida Department of Health that an employee had tested positive.

Officials said health privacy laws prohibit them from releasing any other information about the case.

The state announced last week that all public schools would remain closed until April 15 and possibly extend the school year through the end of June.

Districts have shifted to remote learning and students in Flagler County have not been on campuses since March 13.

There have been five cases of coronavirus in Flagler County. Florida is approaching 1,700 confirmed cases statewide and at least 22 people have died.
