“The staff, clinical experiences, and comfort level of my two-month recovery process at Headwaters was the key to my successful program. I am forever indebted to all of the above.”

Who We Treat
Headwaters understands the unique needs of men and women in positions of great responsibility, and commensurate wealth and stature. They are the entrepreneurs who help build the strongest economy on earth; the CEOs and senior managers of worldwide corporations; the creators who blaze new frontiers of technology, entertainment, professional sports and the arts; the trusted sons and daughters working to preserve family legacies; the political leaders who seek to build a better world for all humanity.
Because of their unique positions, these individuals often face pressures and challenges not generally felt or understood by the rest of society. While most people don’t need to fear that the next person we meet may have our money on their minds, the super-wealthy do. The Headwaters’ approach combines modern behavioral science with compassion and understanding, all in an environment that helps individuals of means and fame feel safe, comfortable and free from judgement; unique circumstances that cannot be effectively managed at less sophisticated programs.
Headwaters is specifically designed for and staffed to diagnose and treat serious health and medical conditions. A private enclave on the Hanley Foundation campus, Headwaters is staffed by doctorate and masters-level clinicians and medical personnel specializing in addiction medicine who are dedicated exclusively to the care and treatment of Headwaters’ patients. Expert staff draw on a deep understanding of the Headwaters clientele’s circumstances, needs, and requirements. The Headwaters’ approach seamlessly integrates leading-edge addiction medicine and rigorous clinical science with immersion in best practice in recovery principles.
Customizable Group and Individual Therapies
Group and individual psychotherapy, combined with cognitive behavioral therapy strategies to boost interpersonal and coping skills, and using approaches that support motivation and functional recovery remain the most effective treatments for substance use and co-occurring disorders. Based on a customized treatment plan, each individual’s continuum of care incorporates the components needed for their physical and emotional recovery. Our therapies include:
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
EYE MOVEMENT DESENSITIZATION AND REPROCESSING (EMDR)
NARRATIVE EXPOSURE THERAPY (NET)
SEX AND LOVE ADDICTION THERAPY
A Quiet Place for Rest and Recovery
A lush refuge of tropical foliage, the first part of treatment takes place within a private enclave on the Hanley Foundation campus. The enclave is comprised of exquisitely appointed suites featuring high-end linens and bespoke furnishings. Amenities range from small details – such as specifically curated personal care products – to a suite of holistic therapies.
At an appropriate time in treatment, patients are transferred to the off-site Headwaters residence, a spacious, stately, private home complete with a gourmet kitchen, dedicated staff, and plenty of room for contemplation and conversation. Clients are driven to the main campus for all treatment activities.
The Family Program
At Headwaters, we recognize that the patient and family are one — both suffer the effects of mental health disorders, substance use, and addiction. And both are equally vital in developing a path to long-term, sustainable recovery. The Headwaters model includes patients’ families throughout the recovery journey.
Headwaters offers several massage techniques to enhance wellness, reduce pain, and promote relaxation. They include deep tissue and corrective therapy, neuromuscular, Swedish, Swedish firm, sports, and geriatric massage. During this treatment, the body’s soft tissue is manipulated to help manage specific health conditions.
Healing, relaxation, and stress reduction are achieved through pressure applied to specific points on the feet that are in direct alignment with the body’s organs and systems.
Craniosacral Therapy is a gentle, hands-on therapy that releases tension deep inside the body, particularly in the neck and head. Practitioners release restrictions in the soft tissues around the central nervous system with a light touch, generally no greater than the weight of a nickel.
In this traditional Chinese medicine technique, thin needles are inserted through the skin in specific locations on the body associated with healing.
In order to increase healthy circulation and muscular relaxation, practitioners apply direct pressure with their fingertips along specific points on the body.
Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine. A therapist places special cups on the back for a few minutes to create suction. With cupping, you can reduce pain and inflammation, increase blood flow, relax, and feel better. Additionally, it acts as a deep-tissue massage.
As the mind is calmed through guided visualizations and silent reflection, physical relaxation, stress reduction, and emotional well-being are enhanced.
During this guided practice, intentionally controlling the inhalation and exhalation rates, as well as pattern and force of breath, can be an effective adjunct to relaxation.
Headwaters’ expert yoga instructors identify specific poses to improve your flexibility, balance, endurance, and strength in a centuries-old form of exercise.
Rehabilitation and recovery of neurologic and musculoskeletal conditions are assisted through movement activities in warm water with trained instructors.
Personal trainers assess each client’s body composition, movement, and work capacity from which they create an effective and personalized exercise program. Additionally, Headwaters trainers employ dual tasking as part of each individual’s program helping to improve memory and cognitive ability at the same time as strength, flexibility and cardio endurance.
For the technique of ear seeding, specific points are mapped on the outer ear. They are a microsystem of points, similar to the hands and feet in reflexology, which correspond to major organs, physiological functions, and symptoms. An acupuncture physician uses ear seeds to substitute traditional needles when treating the outer ear. These seeds are the ideal size to activate and pressurize ear points, thereby exerting relaxation on the reflex centers in the brain.
