In this episode of The Hanley Effect, co-hosts Dr. John Dyben and Dr. Rachel Docekal sit down with the inimitable Marcia Andrews, longtime educator and four-time elected member of the Palm Beach County School Board for District 6. With over 49 years of service in education, Mrs. Andrews shares her passion for academic achievement, her advocacy for equity in education, and her deeply personal commitment to uplifting every student in her district.

Mrs. Andrews, who grew up and attended school in Palm Beach County, began her career as a teacher and worked her way up through the district as principal, director, and Chief of Human Resources. She has played a pivotal role in recruiting thousands of educators and support staff over the years. As a school board member, her mission continues: ensuring that every student—whether from Wellington, Royal Palm Beach, or the Glades region—receives the support and opportunity they need to succeed.

Beyond her official role, Mrs. Andrews’s warmth and accessibility are palpable. She regularly visits schools, participates in advisory boards across the region, and maintains a satellite school board office in the Glades to stay closely connected with the community. Her two beloved dogs, Piper and Dinky, even make a surprise (and adorable) mention during the recording.

Currently serving as Chair of the Council of the Great City Schools, Mrs. Andrews is influencing national education policy while staying rooted in the neighborhoods of Palm Beach County. From promoting mental health counselors in schools to mentoring young people across diverse communities, she exemplifies public service grounded in compassion, wisdom, and tireless dedication.
