West Palm Beach, Fla. (September 5, 2024) – Hundreds of local and national supporters attended the Hanley Foundation’s 2nd Annual Bartle BBQ Hang on Saturday, August 24, at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach. The family-friendly skateboard and barbecue event was held in honor of 34-year-old Cory Bartle, an avid skateboarder and culinary artist, who tragically died from an accidental fentanyl overdose in 2022.

The Bartle BBQ Hang featured special guests Zion Wright, an Olympic skateboarder and Jupiter, Fla., native, and skateboarding professional Mike Rogers. Both athletes led a half pipe competition where participants won various prizes. Along with skateboarding, guests enjoyed a barbecue feast catered by SandyJames Fine Food & Productions, kids’ games and activities, and live music.

Proceeds from the event raised money for the Cory Bartle Memorial Fund, which is facilitated by Hanley Foundation. The Cory Bartle Memorial Fund provides lifesaving scholarships for individuals with substance use disorders who would not otherwise be able to afford treatment. The fund also supports work to educate individuals and their families about substance use disorders and the road to recovery for all involved, with hopes of breaking the cycle of addiction and overdose.
