Boca Raton, Fla. (January 9, 2025) ─ More than 200 guests joined Hanley Foundation in raising $150,000 at the 4th Annual Brice Makris Brunch on Sunday, December 15, at The Boca Raton. Michelle Makris, a board member of Hanley Foundation, and her husband John, chaired the event to honor their son Brice who tragically passed away at 23 from fentanyl poisoning. The brunch supported the Hanley Foundation’s Brice Makris Endowment Fund, providing scholarships for lifesaving treatments and funding addiction prevention programs.

Matt Williams, founder of FROPRO Snack Bar, served as the brunch’s featured guest speaker. Williams shared his journey of recovery, a time when he envisioned FROPRO, and how he started the local venture with his wife. He now serves as a mentor and recovery coach to young men in recovery.

MDVIP, a national network of primary care physicians, was honored with the Hanley Foundation Community Spirit Award, which recognizes MDVIP’s exceptional commitment to personalized, patient-centered health care.

Honorary guests included George Petrocelli, David Dweck, Bruce Spizler, Jan Savarick, and FAU faculty members, Dean Naelys Luna and Dr. Katie Burke, all of whom served as celebrity chefs for Hanley Foundation’s 3rd Annual Boca Celebrity Cookoff, the kickoff event to the Brice Makris Brunch.
