Cory Bartle was many things—a gifted culinary artist, an avid skateboarder, a lover of the outdoors, and someone who deeply cared about helping others. By age 25, Cory had already made his mark in the culinary world. He found joy in creating, sharing, and connecting through food and friendship. His spirit was magnetic, and his loyalty to the people he loved was unmatched.

Cory was also bravely working on his recovery, determined to live a life free from addiction. Tragically, in October 2022, Cory died from an accidental fentanyl overdose at just 34 years old. In the wake of this devastating loss, his family, friends, and community rallied to honor his memory in the most meaningful way—by helping others find the path to healing that Cory fought so hard to walk.

About the Fund

Established by Cory’s family and administered by Hanley Foundation, the Cory Bartle Memorial Fund provides lifesaving treatment scholarships for individuals struggling with substance use disorders—people who might not otherwise have the means to access care. In addition to funding treatment, the Memorial Fund supports educational efforts that reduce stigma and raise awareness around addiction, overdose, and the recovery journey.

Your donation goes directly toward breaking the cycle of addiction and giving individuals—and their families—a second chance at life.

The Bartle BBQ Hang: Skating for a Cause

Every year, Cory’s community comes together at the Bartle BBQ Hang, a high-energy, family-friendly event that combines Cory’s biggest passions: skateboarding, music, food, and fun. Held at the National Croquet Center in West Palm Beach, this event has become a vibrant celebration of life and recovery.

The BBQ features:

  • Live music from local and national acts
  • A BBQ feast catered and underwritten by SandyJames Fine Food & Productions
  • A skateboarding clinic and competition led by professional skaters like Zion Wright, Alex Sorgente, and Mike Rogers
  • Kids’ activities, croquet lessons, and more

With hundreds of attendees and generous sponsors, the Bartle BBQ Hang not only raises critical funds for the Memorial Fund—it also builds community, spreads awareness, and inspires hope
