SUMMARY:Racquets for Recovery
DESCRIPTION:Please join Hanley Foundation and the Mark Garwood Foundation for the 6th Annual Racquets for Recovery Tennis and Pickleball Tournament on Saturday\, January 31\, 2026 at North River Shores Tennis Club in Stuart\, FL.\nThe event will include women’s and men’s doubles tennis and pickleball competitions. Registration fee includes tournament play\, a long-sleeve performance t-shirt\, awards\, lunch\, snacks and drinks throughout the day.\nSpectator lunch tickets are only $10 and can be purchased in advance or at the event.\nAll proceeds will benefit the Mark Garwood Phoenix Scholarship Program \nTickets and Sponsorship Opportunities\n  \n \n \nAbout the Mark Garwood Foundation\nAn insatiable curiosity about life\, a passion for living\, and a loving and generous nature characterized Mark Garwood. As a teen\, he was diagnosed with type I diabetes\, but he never let it slow him down. He excelled in a wide range of sports due to his athletic abilities. He was charming\, persuasive\, and sincere in all of his relationships. Mark was always willing to help his friends\, regardless of circumstances.\n​\nWhile attending college in Orlando in 2009\, Mark was assaulted during a pick-up basketball game. As a result of his hospitalization\, he developed an addiction to pain medications. During this time\, Mark left school\, alienated friends and family\, and got into legal trouble. Mark knew he was on a destructive path and was determined to change. After detox\, rehab\, and participation in twelve-step programs\, Mark began to recover.  He found spiritual and emotional support among his peers in a recovery residence.  He had secured his dream job and was embarking on a rewarding and exciting career path. \nFollowing a five-year battle with substance use disorder\, Mark died of complications associated with addiction and diabetes. To provide hope\, change lives\, and build a brighter future for those in recovery\, the Mark Garwood Phoenix Scholarship Program was founded in 2014. \n

DESCRIPTION:Join Hanley Foundation and the Mark Garwood Foundation for the 9th Annual SHOOT FOR THE MOON – Sporting Clay Charity Event\, Friday\, November 7\, 2025 in Palm City to raise funds for the Mark Garwood Phoenix Scholarship Program. \nRegistration\, breakfast\, and a raffle will kick off the morning at 7:30. Before the teams demonstrate their skills on the competition course\, Shooting Club representatives will present a brief safety briefing and orientation. Immediately following the sporting clay event\, lunch will be served\, a live auction will take place\, individual and team awards will be presented\, and the 2026 Mark Garwood Phoenix Scholarship recipients will be introduced.\n​\nAll ammunition\, clays\, trappers\, scorers\, and golf carts are included in your registration.
