With the help of the Boca Chamber and the Makris family\, Hanley Foundation is increasing awareness of substance use disorders in South Palm Beach County. DESCRIPTION:Join us Tuesday\, March 26\, 2024 for a Physician Safe Prescribing Initiative Training on Reducing Stigma: Pregnant Women with Opioid Use Disorder \nHeather Howard\, Ph.D.\, MSW\, LICSW\nAssociate Professor of the Sandler School of Social Work at FAU \nHeather Howard\, Ph.D.\, MSW\, LICSW is committed to educating graduate students to become social justice-based social workers. Her research and writing interests focus on gender-specific and trauma-informed care for women that reduces stigma and encourages health empowerment. Heather has been awarded several external grants for research involving women’s health issues and her publications emphasize the importance of shared decision-making for perinatal women who are opioid dependent. \nDinner will be provided and CMEs will be granted for physicians and nurse practitioners in attendance.

She has a Masters in Marriage and Family and has been a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist for over a decade. The event will begin with a shotgun start\, followed by 18 holes of competitive play. A silent auction\, lunch and awards presentation will follow. \nIn 2022\, Hanley Foundation provided more than 300 individuals in need with scholarships for quality treatment and care.
